Extinguisher inspection reports without the clipboard
Walk the building, add each extinguisher with its location, type, size and result, and send the customer a signed report with your license number. Next year the list is already there.

Three things you stop doing
Re-listing the same 40 extinguishers every year
Each unit is saved at the address with location, type, size and manufacture year. Next year you only mark results.
Annual, 6-year and hydro dates in your head
Annual maintenance is a recurring cycle per customer, and unit records keep manufacture year so 6-year and hydrostatic work is visible.
Seat minimums on inspection software
Some inspection tools require a minimum number of technicians. Start alone and add people when you hire.

Extinguisher types
Anything a technician types that is not on the list is added for next time.
Annual maintenance by default; 6-year maintenance and 5- or 12-year hydrostatic tests by unit. Reminder 30 days before.
Default: every 12 months · remind 30 days before · change per customer
The call list builds itself
Every customer on a cycle shows up before they are due, with the contact’s name and number. Call, book, mark it booked, and it leaves the list.

What to know for fire extinguisher service
Requirements vary by state, city and the code edition your authority having jurisdiction uses. This is a starting point, not legal advice.
- NFPA 10 sets monthly inspections by the owner, annual maintenance, 6-year maintenance for stored-pressure dry chemical units and hydrostatic testing. The tag on each extinguisher remains the public record.
- Many fire departments require inspection reports to be filed through The Compliance Engine or a similar portal. The app gives you the report and unit list; it does not file for you.
- Requirements depend on the edition your authority having jurisdiction adopts. Always follow the AHJ.
Fire extinguisher companies ask
Does it replace the tag on the extinguisher?
No. Tags are still required. The report is the customer’s record of every unit and result.
Can it file to The Compliance Engine?
Not yet. Direct filing to compliance portals is on the roadmap.
Can I scan barcodes on units?
Not yet. Units are listed by location today; barcode scanning is planned for the phone app.
